I'm leaving on a jet plane.....

Today was my last day of work for 10 days! We leave Sunday at 6:30 in the morning for Las Vegas. We've got a lot of stuff planned so it should be a whole lot of fun. However, seeing it's the middle of summer and we'll be in the middle of the desert, It'll be a jillion degrees. Who's genius idea was it to go to Vegas in the middle of summer? Oh wait. Kare, wish you were still coming - I'll think of you every day.

I'll take a ton of pictures, as I'm the queen of touristy things - Vaughn says the locals can spot me a mile away.

They Came!!!

Once again, ignore the crappy picture quality from my handy-dandy cell phone. I saw these whale flip flops on the left on Desperate Housewife's blog and I totally fell in love with them. I had to order a pair for my daughter because she's a complete whale fanatic. And....seeing I was ordering a pair for her, I decided to get myself a pair as well....And then I celebrated by getting a pair with lobsters on them!

Just in time for holidays! Yay!

After 6 or 7 years of having my nails done, I've finally bit the bullet and registered for the nail course. Classes begin the day after I get back from Las Vegas next week.

I need two guinea pigs (and by guinea pigs, I mean models, of course), and my model for day 2 & day 4 (27 July & 10 August) had to bail. Anyone interested? Heck, I'll do your nails for free till the end of time!

Please? Anyone??

Update: 5 minutes later.... Wow, that didn't take long at all. Enticing Amy's friends with free gel/acrylic nails for life was apparently all it took. If I had known it was going to be that easy, I would have just offered a bottle of Jagermeister & a pack of smokes.

My intent on Saturday morning was to sit and read a few chapters of this book with my morning coffee. Needless to say, the rest of my day was a write off - aside from the coffee refills and the occasional pee breaks, I didn't get up until I was finished.

Anyone that's an animal lover (which I wasn't, until Porkchop entered my life), will enjoy John Grogan's story of how, with a pet, we may not always get what we're expecting, but we realize that the unexpected challenges are better and often more rewarding than we had ever anticipated.

There were many times while reading this, I actually burst out laughing, but, also, times when I cried so much, I had to take a break because the tears were blinding me (Me? Cry? Now there's something you don't see every day).

If you've already read this, you know where I'm coming from. If you haven't, go buy it. Oh, and one more thing, if you have a pet, give him or her a hug today, and don't ever forget to tell them how great they are.

Have a great day, everyone. Peace.

When Adam & I got home a few days ago, I opened the mailbox and there was a card from the post office saying that there was a parcel waiting for me.

Me: Parcel? What parcel? Who's sending me a parcel?

Adam: Maybe you ordered something and it's here, or somebody sent you a present.

Me: I didn't order anything! And who would be sending me a present?

Adam: Geez, Mom, I don't know. Think. Did you order anything lately?

Me: I ordered 'Backstreet Boys' tickets...

Adam: Well, I don't think that would come as a parcel, Mom.

Me: (squealing) Maybe they sent me a Backstreet Boy!!!

He rolled his eyes and walked away. Story of my life.

Have a good evening, everyone. Peace.
